Re: No longer NED- back in right ovary

I've written about my wife's condition and many operations and ordeals in the past (she sadly had both ovaries infested, and both tumors were larger than 20cm). She is faring well now (two years after her last surgery) and ostensibly still NED. I can give you my wife's email via message if you want—...

Re: Reversals Any positives?

My wife never had any issues with her reversal, despite the extended right hemicolectomy. She has not had to modify her diet in any way, nor does she take metamucil.

CT Scan – Still NED

For the sake of the community here, I thought I should update. My wife remains free of any evidence of disease. This is naturally a great boon to us, but these scans take a lot out of us now after all we've been through—basically, she was (falsely) diagnosed with diffuse peritoneal carcinomatosis ab...

Still No Recurrence . . .

Not sure what this is worth after we've lost everything, but my wife is still fine and apparently without disease. Should feel great—particularly after having to fight our oncologist eight months ago when he grossly misread a scan and falsely insisted that my wife had diffuse carcinomatosis (which r...

NED for now

Just a brief update. I looked over scans with surgeon from last week today. There's nothing there, so that's good—might be enough of an impetus to lay off on the drinking for the the next six months' reprieve that we've got. The cancer really ought to be back by now, and in a dreadful way, so I'm te...

Re: Stage 3b with ovarian met recurrence and healthy now

New to all this. Diagnosed in late May with large masses on rectum and left ovary. Sigmoidoscopy showed almost completely filled sigmoid with cancer cells, and so was diagnosed with colon cancer. Put on FOLFOX for 12 weeks. Told there was not a cure, and the goal was to decrease the size of the mas...

Re: Two-Month Postop Update

Australia is the godforsaken country in question, although we feel similarly about Germany. I know I shouldn't be fatalistic; four major surgeries in fifteen months takes its toll. On the upside, my wife was recovered almost completely within nine days of the last one; they were rather surprised tha...

Two-Month Postop Update

So, wife had surgery on June 29. Other ovary ostensibly had cancer, but nothing else. Having evaluated the CT scans and PET beforehand, that is precisely what I expected; oncologist was certain she had diffuse peritoneal carcinomatosis and insisted that surgery was futile (only was willing to recomm...

Re: Isolated Retroperitoneal Metastases with Unelevated Markers

I’ll update. PET on June 6 revealed what HIPEC surgeon considered mets in liver segments 2 and 3; based on lack of morphological abnormalities in that area—apart from obvious incisional scar tissue from benign foreign body granuloma in December—I was virtually certain that the increased FDG uptake (...

Re: Does anyone have a little drinky drink during chemo?

Well, I did—and in herculean quantities—but I wasn't the one technically on chemo. My wife usually had a glass every night with dinner; whether it's good for you or not, teetotalism just doesn't seem human. She fasted, however, for five days out of every two weeks, during which time she would only d...

Re: Isolated Retroperitoneal Metastases with Unelevated Markers

I’ll update, for what it’s worth. The onc claims, contra information previously relayed from radiologist, that the mass is ovarian and my wife has diffuse carcinomatosis. HIPEC surgeon is much more willing to entertain a benign etiology (e.g., a peritoneal inclusion cyst and foreign body granulomato...

Re: Isolated Retroperitoneal Metastases with Unelevated Markers

I'm a bit confused about the relevance of your response. While there are certainly some notable lacunae, the panels I have are relatively extensive. I have extensive, sometimes daily records of my wife's LDH, liver function, vitamin D levels, CBC, CRP, and a number of endocrinological panels from th...

Isolated Retroperitoneal Metastases with Unelevated Markers

I had previously posted about our situation in a different thread, but it may be more à propos to start a discrete thread. Essentially, my wife had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago. We didn't hear any results for a week, despite several calls. Finally, I pushed through the ER to get ahold of someone,...

Re: Shoulder Pain

Results are confusing . . . First, CEA remains less than 1 (Dx was 10), CA 19-9 is 8 (Dx 36) and CA 125 is 10 (Dx was 99, then elevated to 180). Lungs, liver, spine/pelvic bones, spleen, right ovary all clear. No suspicious nodes. However, there's allegedly a 9 cm (!) complex mass in the upper right...

Re: Path report - kras and tp53

With the current state of genomics, there's not much to interpret. KRAS (which controls cell proliferation) mutations generally have an unfavorable prognosis (which is obvious on the face of it since the cell has lost the ability to switch off multiplication, which is really bad for a eukaryotic org...
