Re: Rise in CEA during chemo. Cause for concern?

My CEA jumped during chemo and then slowly dropped after. Also my oncologist told me that one or two months don't make much difference during breaks, changing treatment, etc. Hopefully, the chemo will shrink your tumors to the point of where they can be removed with surgery, that's one curative appr...

Re: Advice deciding between staged vs combined surgery

That's great news on your shrinking tumors, a good sign. I did surgery on both colon and liver at the same time, removing 1 met from my liver and a large part of my cecum. The recovery period was about a week in the hospital. Doctors did tell me the best thing to do is go in and get everything out i...

Has anyone talked to or heard from Nicole?

I sent her a DM but didn't get a response.

Hoping for some good news..

Re: I got a call to go right to the ER

Sorry to hear about your bile duct. Something I did which helped me was to just forget about tomorrow, I know easier said than done. But since none of us know what will happen tomorrow, we can just try to live for the now and do things we enjoy now.

Keep us posted.

Re: Surgery or no?

Awesome! I've seen patients here do multiple surgeries so hopefully after you recover from this procedure, they can schedule you for another one down the road to resolve your lung mets.

Re: Diverticulitis?

I have had diverticulitis for years now (with no apparent pain) and my GI said it's nothing to worry about as millions have them. I think the severity also matters, or if it gets clogged, so it's something to keep an eye on, but mostly nothing to worry about.

Re: I need emotional help

I've seen patients here who went back on treatment the second time and had just as good if not a better response after taking a break, so I'm confident this will be you too.

Also hoping you can find a surgeon who will be more aggressive regarding your liver surgery.

Re: Never able to be cured....I need u guys more than ever

I'm sorry but I still don't believe your oncologist and his "army" of doctors. Obviously, I'm no expert but one doctor I talked to told me about ablation or some kind of procedure where they cut off blood supply to the tumor in the liver and it kills it. I'm sorry but I don't know what the...

Re: Advise.. I need to be more aggressive

Definitely try to find another doctor. I've seen posters here with doctors who have gone the approach of liver resection + lymph nodes, then recovery, then peritoneal HIPEC. I don't think they can do it simultaneously unfortunately but it can be a step by step process. I hope someone who has gone th...

Re: HELP its grown. Please I'm sick I can't breath

I agree with the others in that I don't think your doctors are being aggressive enough. They should be able to remove your liver tumor as it's just one lesion and it sounds small enough. They should also be able to remove lymph nodes during the liver surgery. I've heard many instances of this. Defin...

Scanxiety always sucks so it's completely understandable.

Hoping your scan will be fine.

Re: 1st bad scanning... advice please!!

Hi, I'm not completely certain but it seems that most surgeons will usually not operate unless there is a chance to get rid of all visible cancer. In other words, they will only attempt a liver resection if they can also resect the lung metastases as well. I don't recall any patients doing both simu...

Congrats!

But always remember to take care of yourself, even after you've reached cure status.

And keep getting annual CEA tests. Can never be too safe...

Re: In hospital.

Sorry to hear you are in the hospital again. Are they still waiting on the liver met?

Really hoping they can get you to surgery on that as that is key to getting to NED status.

Re: Llooking to here from those that waited a loong time for surgery

I know some surgeons refuse to do anything while others are more experienced and are thus obviously more willing to be aggressive and take more risks. So I think it certainly helps to do research and try to find the best doctor suited specifically to your case. Also, some people will likely argue th...
