Re: Still worried after finding Hemorrhoids

If you received a sigmoidoscopy and it came back fine you are most likely in the clear. However if you only received an ANOSCOPY. I would not be satisfied. I had first bleeding around age of 29. I received an Anoscopy, and was informed my bleeding was most likely result of a minor roid flare or smal...

Re: Is the day that cheno treatment ...

Day of disconnect was like a light switch for me. I'd be disconnected and within 6 hours be rendered unconscious and confined to be for 36 up to 72 hours. With just enough time awake to eat, drink, brush teeth and use the bathroom. Then things always improved until the next cycle. I agree fluids are...

Re: Better news, Neuropathy & questions

My neuropathy continued to progress after treatment and now that I am more than three years out I assume it is permanent. But I also remain NED more than three years out, so at this point I have no regrets. It is (for me) definitely the lesser of two evils. I think my situation is not really the no...

Re: Better news, Neuropathy & questions

Hi Capri, While I can't speak to the Liver Spot/Scan. I can relay my experience with Neuropathy. I was diagnosed 3b at 44 years of age. So similar to your son in age and stage. I did get neuropathy during treatment quite significantly. To the point that my fingers and toes and even the entire bottom...

Re: Colon cancer screening at 45 - New guidelines

Definitely a step in the right direction, but needs to be 30 or 35. What would really help is educating the doctors that it’s ok to send someone in their 20’s or 30’s to get a colonoscopy. I’ve read countless stories exactly like mine where we go to the doctor describing our symptoms and the doctor...

Re: Feeling very anxious port removal this afternoon

Thanks folks! Port out now and I have it in a jar as a trophy! The surgeon gave me the max amount of anaesthetic so still no pain 2 hours after procedure! Worst bit was the injections but I didn't feel a thing after that! Bit of a smell of burning flesh when cauterised but nothing more! I feel a bi...

Re: Tattoo during scope?

Tim's correct. Tattoos are used for marking of the margins. One is placed in area of the cuts to be done during resection surgery.
I had tattoos done as well. The nurse was joking about it afterwards telling me she was glad to have been the one to give me my first tattoos - as I don't have others.

First Post Surgery/Chemo Scope

I had my first colonoscopy post ULAR surgery and 12 rounds of chemo yesterday. Results = ALL clear. From what I recall they thought my colon looked quite healthy. There was a little swelling at the anastomosis and one very small spot of diverticulitis, but no sign of cancer nor any polyps. So that m...

Re: Scanxiety

I hope you get good scans!*hugs* Thank you! Last scan showed more shrinkage but it's slow going. CEA slightly up but holding steady according to oncologist, she said not to stress over a small change. Next scan in June, I should have used "Livin' Scan to Scan" as my user name! Hugs ...

Re: Are followup colonoscopies counted as preventative?

Hey guys, I have my first post chemo colonoscopy this week and I was curious if it counts as preventative care. I had to pay for a portion of the colonoscopy that diagnosed my cancer and now I’m wondering if I should have had to pay anything at all for that one. Preventative care is supposed to be ...

Re: 3 Month Post Treatment Update

Benben, when you say scope are you referring to colonoscopy? You had surgery? How often are you scheduled for colonoscopies and ct scans. My colonrectal resection was November 9, 2017 and my Oncologist wants to wait one year for both CT scan and colonoscopy which I think is too long to wait and let...
