Re: New Member here on the forum

You definitely should go to Stanford for a second opinion. You should get a DRE and flex Sig exam of your rectum to assess the tumor post the chemoradiation. Next step would be XelOx for several weeks. Surgery might not be necessary depending on your stage and how well you respond to the treatment. ...

I agree with the other posts. You should get a colonoscopy soon. You will be fine but you need this test.

Re: Peri mets

I recommend contacting Dr Philip Paty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. He is excellent.

Re: Feeling nervous n very high anxiety

I just completed eight 14-day cycles of XelOx. One side effect you will likely feeling a hand and foot rawness. I suggest using Eucerin lotion on your hands and feet twice a day and to start now even if you don't have any rawness yet. It will come as Chemo builds in your body. You may also go throug...

Re: Rectal cancer stage 4

I agree with the advice in getting a second opinion from a major cancer center. I saw Dr Paty or Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. He is excellent as is MSK. They may put you through their own series of tests and wil ask to see copies of all scans, reports and the CD ROM of your MRI, etc. You ca...

This sounds like "standard of care" type treatment. The questions are what Stage is she: Tumor, Nodes

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you agree. At the end of the break between treatments I am supposed to have an exam. I am not yet sure what that will entail. I also expect to have follow up exams after I am cured. I am working with doctors in Connecticut and have also seen Dr Paty at MSKCC. H...

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

I was diagnosed with T2, N0, M0 rectal adenocarcinoma on 3/21/17. After many discussions with surgeons and oncologists, I have decided not to have surgery and go with chemo radiation wait and watch approach. Studies have shown that with early stage rectal cancer, you can have a complete response and...
