Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Hi, After the VATS to remove the lung nodule, I was faced with the decision to go for chemo or not. The oncologist at Mayo wanted it, the oncologist at U of M said there is no strong case for chemo but it could go either way. In Norway (Beccashocked), the protocol is to not have more chemo. I decide...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

I am a wait and watch adopter who avoided colon/rectal surgery three years ago when there was a complete response to the neoadjuvant therapy. I was initially diagnosed as T3N0M0. Although there was no surgery, there was a 6-cycle Xelox adjuvant chemo as well. Unfortunately, a metastatic nodule was ...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Just wanted to report I had another six monthly follow up last week. The results of both the MRI and the flex sig were fine. That's now 4 1/2 years NED since the end of my radiation treatment. Apparently I get one more six monthly follow up and then go annually after that. My Doctor told me at thei...

Re: Lung recurrence update- good news

Beccashocked, Could you please share where you are having your treatment? The decision to have no chemo after VATS is similar to my situation but my oncologists in Minnesota were not definite about it and left the decision to me. I would like to know the cancer centers that forgo chemo after a solit...

Re: More chemo after a solitary lung met?

Thank you, Claudia. The United States lags behind Europe in adopting newer therapy protocols. They wait to see how things are working out in Europe before adopting a care protocol. Even newer medical devices built in the US are first launched in Asia and Europe. Which means US residents are often de...

Re: More chemo after a solitary lung met?

Claudia, Could you please say where you were getting your treatment? From the format of dates in your signature, it appears that you are not in the United States. In the United States, there is no clear protocol for this situation and the patient is asked to make a decision. Different cancer centers...

Re: Positive fecal occult test

Please do not cancel the colonoscopy. The inconvenience of colonoscopy is very minor compared to going through advanced cancer treatment. If there is cancer, detect it early and get rid of it. That is key to survival. Colonoscopy is not too bad as many think it is. There is some food restrictions an...

More chemo after a solitary lung met?

Hi, I am posting this question as a new topic because my search in existing topics did not yield answers. My signature tells my story. After a solitary lung met and its removal by VATS, is adjuvant chemotherapy recommended? NCCN guidelines for 2018 does not give clear recommendations. All it says is...

Re: Treatment for metastasis to lung

My son was treated for Stage III rectal cancer with radiation, followed by surgery, followed by 12 rounds of chemo. He was NED for 14 months post the end of chemo, and 2 years post initial diagnosis. Then a single pulmonary nodule was found in his right middle lobe and was determined to be a metast...

Re: CRC metastasis to lungs first?

NedPlease,
After you had the lung met and VATS, you had Xeloda it seems for 6 months. Was it just oral pills?

I am waiting to get the verdict from my oncologist for the chemo following VATS
