Foot pain

Mum aged 80 was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier in the year. She is experiencing burning foot pain originally in both feet but now in one. It is making her feel very down and she's struggling to walk. She is taking no medication for the colon cancer, although several for other issues. She can't ...

Re: Bleeding

Thank you for your replies. I have now spoken to her doctor who is contacting a hospice. They are intending to send a nurse out to visit her on a regular basis to chat with her about any concerns and offer advice.

Bleeding

Hi, Mum who is 80 and has a colon tumour which is inoperable is now experiencing bleeding from the rectum first thing in the morning. She also gets lower back pain, she is permanently constipated, although a few days ago she did have diarrhea, she hardly eats (her appetite has always been poor and d...

Re: How long?

So sorry for not replying to your post which I have only just found. Mum has not been given a grade, even though we asked? At the moment she is having no treatment and is reasonably well. She had a little bleeding again a few days ago, she takes iron tablets to try and keep her level up. All she has...

How long?

Hi, Mum has now been told she is too frail to have her colon tumour removed. At present she is feeling no symptoms apart from being quite tired. She did ask what stage her tumour was, but no one will answer this question, she asked how long she has left but obviously this is a difficult question to ...

Re: Mother just diagnosed

Thank you. I have just reread Mum's letter and didn't realise it actually states "endoscopically unresectionable" does this mean it could be done via ordinary surgery rather than by use of an endoscope? Or have I got it completely wrong?

Re: Mother just diagnosed

Thank you for your replies. Just back from the doctor's, unfortunately Mum has broken her arm and is now in plaster. We have an appointment with her consultant next Monday in regard to the way forward with her bowel cancer treatment.

Re: Mother just diagnosed

Things not going so well, Mum came out of hospital yesterday and within an hour had fallen over and may have broken her wrist (luckily not the side she has a paralysed arm due to a stroke). She saw a doctor this morning and has to go back for an x-ray tomorrow, she has also badly bruised her hip (I ...

Re: Mother just diagnosed

Thank you for your reply. Mum's tumour is higher in the colon. Am I correct in thinking radiotherapy is only given with tumours nearer the rectum? I am worried that chemotherapy will be offered, she had one dose for breast cancer and that did not go well and had to be stopped.

Re: Mother just diagnosed

Hi, we have had very little information. Mum's own doctor told us it was a small tumour and she would have an operation to remove it and j the colon would be joined again. She took Moviprep on Thursday night for her colonoscopy and began bleeding heavily so was taken into hospital, she already has l...

Mother just diagnosed

Hi, this is my first post, my Mum who is a very frail 79 year old (she weighs 6 stone 4, has had breast cancer, a stroke and has arterial fibulation) has been told she has a large unresectionable mass near her spleenal flexure, we are getting different opinions from every doctor we talk to which is ...
