Re: Modifications to prevent/lessen chance of recurrence

I too have made many of the changes that others have reported but the only advice from my oncologist was to eat walnuts! He said that, whilst all tree nuts are good, evidence suggests that walnuts are the best! I looked into utt and the evidence convinced me so, as I love walnuts. ... it's win/win!!...

Re: 5FU pump

I used to unwind most of the tubing attached to the pump and hang it, in the carry bag, on the bedpost! Once I started doing this, I did manage to sleep. I used to wash my hair over the bath and just have a good wash down on days I had the pump. Like you, I found working with it in the shower was to...

Re: Feeling very anxious port removal this afternoon

Thanks folks! Port out now and I have it in a jar as a trophy! The surgeon gave me the max amount of anaesthetic so still no pain 2 hours after procedure! Worst bit was the injections but I didn't feel a thing after that! Bit of a smell of burning flesh when cauterised but nothing more! I feel a bit...

Feeling very anxious port removal this afternoon

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I visited but I so value your input when I am worried about something. Today I will have my port out and mostly, I feel thrilled to be saying goodbye to it. My worry is that I saw a different surgeon, (mine was sick), the only one at the hospital who doesn't r...

Nails issues after chemo

Hello everyone! Sorry I'm not around on the forum much since finishing chemo...it reminds me of where I was not long ago whereas I can sort of forget if I don't keep popping in! I know this will seem very minor to those of you still in the middle of treatment but I wonder whether others have experie...

Re: The First day of the rest of my life...

Well done! It's been a long haul but you made it to the end and I do remember just how tough it was for you. I truly hope that now you can begin to put all that stuff behind you and enjoy life to the full with your family. Now almost 3 months out, chemo feels a long way back! Takes a little while to...

Re: Update on neuropathy...2 months on!

I quite forgot to say that my oncologist prescribed homeopathic dose of phosphorus for my neuropathy. Can't find anything about the benefits of phosphorus for chemo induced neuropathy but ... phosphorus or not, the neuropathy is improving!

Update on neuropathy...2 months on!

Thought it would help others if I updated on how I am now, 2 months after my last chemo! The neuropathy in my feet is beginning to go and I get tingling and can now feel when I land on someone else's feet whilst dancing!! My balance is better and I stumble very little now. My skin colour has returne...

Hot flushes

Has anyone else experienced hot flushes and night sweats during and post chemo? I had my last session of 5fu and leucovorin at the beginning of August and overall I feel quite well with little fatigue. Just neuropathy in my feet and more hot sweats where perspiration runs down my face and neck. It's...

Re: Guess a new side effect has shown up

Hello Volfan I too had muscle twitching but just a couple of times and during the night.it was earlier than the 9th, I think after the third chemo. My leg twitched quite strongly and I also shivered violently at the same time. It was scary, but passed after about an hour. I think it may be a nerve t...

Re: In The Sun

Hi NHNike, I just put on lots of factor 50 sunscreen and try not to sit out in the sun too long but we have a little farm and the animals still need attention! We too love to walk and spend time outdoors and at the start if chemo, I wore hats, jackets etc but it soon got too hot so good sunscreen it...

Re: I've made it!

The nurse has just been to release me from the pump for the final time.... hooray! It feels soooo good to see the end of this stuff! Just one more lot of prednisolone tomorrow and I will take the Omiprazole for a bit longer till I'm sure the acid reflux has gone...then no drugs and my poor over work...

I've made it!

At last I'm sitting in the chemo chair having my final infusion... can't quite believe it! At the start I was really down, felt aweful and found it difficult to accept the "poison" being pumped into me. After a month, with the help of You Tube and guided meditation, I became more positive ...

Re: Bowel Re-section recovery 6 weeks out

Hello, I had my resection on 10th January this year and slowly my abdomen is returning to its previous shape! For a couple of months it was very puffy with distension around the largest incision ..bikini line like yours with the other laparoscopic incisions less problematic. As I am having chemo, I'...
