Re: Emergency HIPEC, possible?

Can you get HIPEC within a few weeks? I expect so. Is it an option for you? There's no way for me to know. Selecting patients is very complicated. My husband had his done by an amazing and compassionate surgeon at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. His name is Dr. Sean Dineen. Dr. Dineen i...

Joe Rogers (1974-2019)

I lost my beloved husband of 21 years this June. You were all here with me at the start, whether you realize it or not. Thank you for your support and friendship. My Joe was a big Dr. Who fan, so I have his ashes in a ceramic Tardis. Sure, it was supposed to be a cookie jar, but it works and the coo...

Re: Things Not to Say and the Responses I want to Make (Rant)

I don't know how this site feels about thread resurrection, but I just had to share some more venting. My DH is now in hospice, and is resting comfortably. For that I am grateful. However, it is still amazing the things people think are ok to say to me right now. You would think, that if you are 45 ...

Re: On a Clinical Trial but I Think We're Reaching the End

And one more thing, because I need to vent a little: You would think, that if you are 45 years old and facing losing your husband of 21 years, that if people can't be helpful, they can at least not burden you with additional bull-spit. You would be wrong. Thus far, I have managed to keep my internal...

Re: On a Clinical Trial but I Think We're Reaching the End

Thank you all for your kindness. We have enrolled Joe in hospice. He did everything he could to fight, and outlived many a doctor's predictions, but it's time for him to be comfortable and at peace. He sleeps most of the time and with the medications, he is pain free. That's the first time in a long...

Re: On a Clinical Trial but I Think We're Reaching the End

Sorry to hear about your story. I had a similar diagnosis in Jan 2017 (tough month). I’m sure you and/or your doctors have already looked into it, but have you confirmed that he doesn’t have mutations for some of the new (highly effective) targeted therapies? Was an NGS completed that looked for NT...

On a Clinical Trial but I Think We're Reaching the End

Hi. It's been a while since I stopped in here. I've been in hiding ever since I revealed BigCarrot. Unfortunately, DH is not doing well. He fought long and hard for the last 2.5 years, and I'm still hoping for a miracle. I'll try to summarize our journey. DH was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer i...

Re: Peritoneal CA secondary to Colon CA

HIPEC surgeons? Dr. Sean Dineen at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida. He did my husbands surgery in January. DH was full of cancer. Now, he is not.

I’ll start another thread with more details, but to answer your question, get thee to Tampa.

Stage 4 and Progressing - Advice Appreciated

Hey, DH has stage 4 cancer in his sigmoid colon. It has spread to the peritoneal cavity. He has been on folfirinox and folfiri. The folfirinox worked for a while, but his disease is now progressing. We spoke with a HIPEC surgeon today and he was hesitant, but will do a laparoscopic inspection before...

Re: I'm officially separated

You are both in my heart. You have experienced such cruelty when you deserve kindness and love. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I am so glad you are removing yourself from that toxic behavior. Your feelings are valid. You deserve kindness, respect, and love. You are strong. Keep going and don...
