3 Months Post Chemo

Have to share..... Just received my blood work for 3 months post chemo with Xeloda. :D :D :D :D All of my numbers went down to normal range, not high normal.... CEA dropped from 3.6 to 2.8! It is so "pretty" that I want to frame it! What a way to start the weekend! I have been on a healthy...

Re: Health insurance coverage

Not sure if it's OK to post here, but curious about the best health insurance you have for. I have premera until the end of October, then I have to choose between Aetna or United healthcare. Anyone on either of these.... Aetna, I am looking at easy choice A or a choice plus plan with United health ...

Re: Meeting with liver surgeon tomorrow

Hi Beckster, That's interesting re: 3000 mg of Xeloda. Did you do rounds of 3 weeks or 2 weeks? Also, re: HAI pump (cc'ed from another thread I commented on): Someone on my thread "meeting with liver surgeon tomorrow" suggested we look into the HAI pump. I read some of these links and it ...

Re: Meeting with liver surgeon tomorrow

hart2hart, I didn't see your question for some reason until now. No, we are not interested in MSK and are very happy with Mass General. Exactly, CRguy. re:: Ox dosage... I think the people citing the 130 mg/m2 number are discounting my husband's comorbidities. 130 mg/m2 is the standard for the aver...

Re: Unpredictable, Watery, Diarrhea After Right Hemicolectomy

Hi all! :) I am now 2-1/2 months post-op (right hemi-colectomy with removal of 32 lymph nodes and my ileo-cecal valve), and am experiencing unpredictable, watery, horrid-smelling diarrhea periodically, with much flatulance. The diarrhea's odor is the worst I've ever smelled, (not to mention the odo...

Re: Xeloda for Stage II - did you work?

An update and request for advice: So, after the postop period, I returned to work part time. I'm in the middle of cycle 2, and I'm starting to feel tenderness mainly at the pressure points of my feet (ball and heel). Minimally red. No cracking apart from what was already there. No peeling. Using Ud...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Did not like this Sloan surgeon. Told me all about my surgery before seeing my Ct scan. Basically dismissed that my lymph nodes were unremarkable. He said it is a tumor of a 60 year old. And I could get a resection or take the entire colon out and just resection the small intestine to the colon pie...

Re: ANY Pros/Cons Vitamin D3 ?

It looks like I will need to up my dosage, say to 2,000 iu the next time I buy this stuff. My 500 is looking pretty paltry here and I'm in a part of the country that lacks sunshine. I'm partially making up for it by eating more fish. My onc said to take between 1,000-2,000 per day: so, I take 2000 ...

Re: Radiation after surgery instead of before

People DO have radiation after surgery - it is not that uncommon. Sometimes people with colon cancer lower down in the tract find that after surgery the pathology report indicates that clean margins were not obtained. In that case, it is very common for the patient to have radiation. Generally, the...

Radiation after surgery instead of before

I figure I would ask the experts on this forum for my answer. A friend of mine had colon cancer about 2 1/2 years ago saying it was between stage 1 and 2. What the hell does that mean? ....I thought you were either stage I or stage II. He said it was left sided and they placed a titanium rin...

When my aunt and cousin had surgery for colon cancer, a general surgeon performed the surgery; however, that was 17 years ago.
