Re: Folfiri and Nausea

Hi Tater, I am currently doing 5 rounds of FolFIRI. I get the infusion on a Wednesday and get disconnected from the Pump on Friday. On the first day of infusion when I get home I throw up twice, 2nd day throw up twice or once, Friday throw up once and Saturday maybe throw up, but most likely not. I ...

Re: Sorry another question about chemo but side effects

I never had nausea with folfox, but i did have stomach cramps. Atropine seems to help alot with that. Ask the oncologist about stomach cramp medication. Chemo sucks no matter which one your on. I am doing FOLFIRI and everyday I talk to my wife about quitting. FOLFIRI causes nausea, I vomit at least ...

Re: Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Started FolFiri yesterday. Of course when I got home later in the evening threw up. It is always guaranteed I am going to throw up, at least twice. The 2nd time is always worse, because its harder to breathe cause its more liquid. Nothing I have tried will stop the vomiting from happening. I will ta...

Re: Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Thanks for the input. I am going to hold off on stool softener for now. It is outputting and I think at a normal range. I guess my main issue now is that the stuff just doesn't fall down into the bag which is super annoying, I use lubricant deodarant, and it doesn't work LOL... I just lift the bag w...

Re: Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Hello Guys, Update - So Oncologist wants me to do 5 more rounds of FolFiri to make it a total of 12 from where I left off. He said this was the recommendation from the Tumor Board in CC OH after my procedure. Even though 0/7 lymph nodes were clean and they got all the cancer, I guess its just precau...

Re: Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Sitting here waiting to get staples out, even though I have done this before still nervous as hell. Doctor called this morning after tumor board netting an again reiterated how glad I went to CC OH and did the surgery with him with intraoperative radiation. He got everything and the radiation got an...

Re: Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Hello Folks, It's been almost 2 weeks since surgery. Everything went excellent per the doctor. I woke up with catheter and stents in my penis (UGH!!) a mushroom plug in my butt, and they stabbed me on the side for a drain. So the first day I was attached to everything. The next day I walked a little...

Re: CRC Veteran Check-In! LAR Syndrome question

Lee do you use a stealth belt for your colostomy, or just leave it under your clothes? Also does the bag not come with it's own built in wafer? With the Ileo bag I never had to buy any wafer, just the barrier ring.

Surgery Monday 7th 2019 Salvage Resection Surgery

Well my insurance finally approved the procedure for Cleveland Clinic Ohio. The surgery is a resection of the left seminal vesicle where the lesion has recurred. SUV uptake at 9.1 with this week pet scan, so definitely malignancy. I also asked for Colostomy bag back, looking forward to take control ...

Cool Lee. Thanks so much for the information. How often did you change the bag itself?

Re: Newly diagnosed rectal cancer

My doctor is calling in a prescription but I forgot the name. Procto-something. He said it will help with inflammation and to use that I think three times a day and the other creams when I wasn't using that one. I asked if over the counter pain pills like acetaminophen would help and he said it can...

Re: Help with bowels

No I don't think he would do well with that. He didn't need one after his low anterior resection. He is so ready to give up and is so frustrated it's hard to watch him and hear him. It breaks my heart to see him struggling. I think if he had to have a colostomy he would give up. I wish I knew other...

Re: CRC Veteran Check-In! LAR Syndrome question

For my ileo I mainly used 8805 - Hollister Adapt CeraRing™ Barrier Ring, Standard, 4.5mm Thick, 2" OD and I use 507760 - Hollister Universal Remover Wipe For Adhesive and Barrier and they worked great. I have the powder that you sprinkle after cleaning the adhesive. You sprinkle it first then y...

Re: CRC Veteran Check-In! LAR Syndrome question

Hi Lee, Yes I have been on it a few times. I had an ileostomy before so I am aware of how this works. The ostomy nurse told me that it will be less active then the ileostomy. She also mentioned something called a 2 piece system, which I actually heard of, but with the ileo, I would just open the bot...
