Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

Thanks Stu - That makes me feel better. Beach - Excellent information I didn't know that, so that's good too. Always nice to hear something good when every time I go to Onc, always CEA something LOL...but he is never concerned, yet we as humans who have the diagnosis are always concerned. Day 2 of 7...

Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

So its been the first 3 weeks of doing the Xeloda and Avastin and so far very tolerable. My first blood work after taking this regimen for the 3 weeks CEA went from 3.9 to 5.1. My CEA is a good indicator, and it makes me worried that it went up from this regimen, because I don't want to do FOLFIRI a...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike I setup a IRA with JP Morgan Chase and logged into my 401k account online and requested a rollover withdrawal, check payable to the institution where the IRA is. It was all really simple and completed in about 2 weeks total. 401K company mailed mea check - I had to take the check to the bank (C...

Re: Onc appt

Hi Beach, Overall very tolerable. The only issue I seem to have is stomach cramps/gas. It's not major, but can be a bit uncomfortable at times, but overall, feeling good. I just did blood work today for my avastin infusion next week, and also to check everything, I do this every 3 weeks. Maybe they ...

Re: Onc appt

Beach, Did they include Avastin with your Xeloda therapy? I noticed in your other post you mention CEA 8.8 which went up, CEA is such an anxiety booster. If you are not doing Avastin, perhaps that regimen can be added, hoping that it doesn't have any side effects which i why perhaps you didn't menti...

Re: My first Avastin treatment.

Avastin has literally on side effects on me. One time it did cause blood clot in my neck, which they prescribe medication for, but so far never again. I am on Avastin/Xeloda treatment now which literally no side effects; however everybody is different and side effects vary.

Black Panther Actor Dead at 43

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/28/entertainment/chadwick-boseman-dies/index.html Very sad news. Died of colon cancer after four years battle. I know actors are not immune to cancer but with the financial resources and options it’s just discouraging reading this. I know not everyone’s the same and a lot...

I will let you know how it goes, but from what I understand the side effects are minimal to none, but I know I will have hand feet syndrome with the xeloda, as I did bef...

Re: Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

I am doing the Xeloda/Avastin maintenance starting this Wedensday. I never had an issue with Xeloda during ChemoRadiation....,only hand foot syndrome, which I think means hands and feet get very dark??? I think Pump 5FU is worse, infusion immediate effect. FOLFIRI is so tough, FOLFOX is so tough, bu...

Re: Husband is working !!! and starting Xeloda.....

I am starting Xeloda/Avastin maintenance and from what I understand, it is alot easier to deal with and side effects are minimal to none. My Xeloda maintenance 7 days on, 7 days off, 1500 mg by mouth twice a day. Avastin infusion every 3 weeks. Some people have eventually switched to just Avastin an...

Re: Celebrating 10 years since my Stage IV DX!!!!!

Hi Mattie,

Switching to Xeloda/Avastin on 8/19 since things are looking good so far. Did you have any side affects with Avastin? I don't think I had any, maybe a little woozy initially but then gone. Nothing like Folfiri of course.

Re: Can I get some comparison for my sanity?

Hi Moni, I am currently doing FOLFIRI, I did FOLFOX at the beginning of my journey about 12 rounds. My neuropathy has cleared up in my hands, but I get it in my feet and shin still, usually during bedtime. I feel numb or tingly. My Doctor's plan is to do FOLFIRI for 4-6 rounds (I have my 4th round t...

Re: Personal question ... how do YOU do it?

Hi Monimom, My health insurance is through ObamaCare. We have a small business and run all our expenses through it and it makes our income around 50K...With that income you can get BCBS Insurance possibly, I didn't look at where your located. We pay $197 a month for an insurance that is usually $1k ...
