Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

Zephyr, Claudine, Thanks for the posts gives me hope. I just finished my sixth cycle, the 7th starts this Wednesday. I think pills are slower and given that my Scans didn't show anything, I shouldn't be too concerned. Will wait for PET and hope things go down cause CEA is really stressful. Claudine ...

Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

They don't like to do scans so close to each other. I think recommended is 3 months. He switched to Cat Scans because he knew Pet scans wouldn't find anything at the time my CEA was lower. I am not 100% clear if a pet scan would see something the cat wouldn't, because I would assume the cat scan wou...

Re: New stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis

MSS is usually open to Immunotherapy, TMB only plays a role on those with MSI Isn't it actually the opposite? MSS = micro satellite stable = not a good candidate for immunotherapy, unless you've got a high tumor burden. So your husband would not benefit from it. But I concur with Riki that being BR...

Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

Hi Guys, Just an update, Cycle 4 just completed and CEA gradually keeps going up, I hate CEA....from 5.0 to 6.1 to 8.1 now. Oncologist said that let's see what CT Scan shows and if we have to throw in some Irinetocan (big boy) to bring it back down. Ugh!! I hate Irinetocan, but I will do it if it br...

Re: New stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis

After bugging the oncologist about the testing results, I finally got a copy of them. The results say that my husband's tumor is MSS, low TMB, with mutations in APC, PIK3R1, and TP53. No mutations in KRAS or BRAF. Based on what I've read on this message board and elsewhere, this means that the canc...

Re: PET scan

Beach, Good luck with Pet Scan. I hate CEA test and my last one was 5.1 from 3.9, which always scares me. Oncologist doesn't care as long as it is no in the double digits. I would not sweat it to much, but I sweat it LOL...I hate that test. I Just did my blood work today so will find out CEA on Wedn...

Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

Thanks Stu - That makes me feel better. Beach - Excellent information I didn't know that, so that's good too. Always nice to hear something good when every time I go to Onc, always CEA something LOL...but he is never concerned, yet we as humans who have the diagnosis are always concerned. Day 2 of 7...

Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

So its been the first 3 weeks of doing the Xeloda and Avastin and so far very tolerable. My first blood work after taking this regimen for the 3 weeks CEA went from 3.9 to 5.1. My CEA is a good indicator, and it makes me worried that it went up from this regimen, because I don't want to do FOLFIRI a...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike I setup a IRA with JP Morgan Chase and logged into my 401k account online and requested a rollover withdrawal, check payable to the institution where the IRA is. It was all really simple and completed in about 2 weeks total. 401K company mailed mea check - I had to take the check to the bank (C...

Re: Onc appt

Hi Beach, Overall very tolerable. The only issue I seem to have is stomach cramps/gas. It's not major, but can be a bit uncomfortable at times, but overall, feeling good. I just did blood work today for my avastin infusion next week, and also to check everything, I do this every 3 weeks. Maybe they ...

Re: Onc appt

Beach, Did they include Avastin with your Xeloda therapy? I noticed in your other post you mention CEA 8.8 which went up, CEA is such an anxiety booster. If you are not doing Avastin, perhaps that regimen can be added, hoping that it doesn't have any side effects which i why perhaps you didn't menti...

Re: My first Avastin treatment.

Avastin has literally on side effects on me. One time it did cause blood clot in my neck, which they prescribe medication for, but so far never again. I am on Avastin/Xeloda treatment now which literally no side effects; however everybody is different and side effects vary.
