Re: Stability of lung mets…

I’m doing ok. My chemo for now is just a Zirabev (bevacuzimab/avastin). Been having other health issues maybe from all the treatments but maybe cancer that’s keeping treatment light until they can figure it out. I think I’m trying to get every possible medical test devised. But I’m here plugging awa...

Re: Stability of lung mets…

I’ve had visible lung Mets relatively stable for over a year on minimal chemo. They show some slow growth but my Oncologist doesn’t really worry about them.

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

Hi Dr Mike, From what I can tell you still have a lot of options open and a good shot at being here just as long as I have if not longer. Hi Bianca, The other small mets are just chilling there for now. I have had some issues keeping me off chemo for the last little while but in my experience Cap an...

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

I’m still here. Had some lungs Mets with the biggest removed by surgery and still on chemo. But above ground for now.

Re: Proteinuria from bevacizumab

My experience after years of Bev/Avastin was constant proteinuria even after an extended break. My oncologist decided that, since the level was in the abnormal but not dangerous range and since all other tests were fine, to restart Avastin. Since then the number has remained elevated but has not inc...

Re: stage 4 with extensive lymph nodes involvement

Hello, Sorry to hear about your husband. Everyone is different but here is my story for what its worth... I had extensive lymph node spread up to the para-aortic at diagnosis (now in my mediastinum). Folfox+Bevicuzimab chemotherapy was effective for me. After six months I went on maintenance chemo. ...

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

In my experience the Facebook groups focused on colon cancer trials can be very helpful. You get info on how to get into trials, individual trial experience, anecdotal accounts of success and failures etc. I think there used to be a more vibrant community discussing trials on this board but those me...

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

Hi Catstaff, During my surgery they removed 19 cancerous lymph nodes from up near my heart to down near the bowel. For me it came back but I do know others for who are at least 2+ years NED from similar surgery. So while 2 is better than 5...5 isn't the end of the world. I also know several who have...

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

Achilles, I followed your case. I was encouraged that you were able to have the surgery and disappointed that it didn't work out for you. I hope you stay stable on maintenance chemo. Hubby had a G3 mtKRAS primary which was very resistant to FOLFOX, so it's unclear that maintenance chemo would help ...

Re: Recurrence in retroperitoneal nodes, spine

Hi Catstaff, I had a surgery in Sept 2020 to remove Para-aortic lymph nodes. First PET scan after was clear but my most recent in February showed more lymph nodes active. They would only do the surgery because they believed they had a chance to remove all the cancer (sadly not so). It does and can h...

Re: New stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis

AT-- thanks so much for your helpful response. Your situation sounds similar, but without the liver mets, which my husband's oncologist has never seemed too concerned about. He has said all along that the lymph nodes are the more difficult thing to address. Originally he did not think surgery would...

Re: New stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis

This board has been so helpful as we've navigated this, so I thought I'd post an update about my husband's treatment. He just finished 12 rounds (6 months) of folfox + oxiplatin. His CEA has gone from 713 to 113, and his most recent scans show that all of his tumors have shrunk more than 50% or cal...

Re: This cancer is getting to my head and I need some help

Hey Paul, I hear you. It's been 4 years for me since diagnosis and I've gone through many ups and downs with my own frame of mind. There are times I've not been the best dad to my kids, losing patience or feeling tired and not maximizing my time with them. It always makes me feel terrible...I find i...

Re: Stage IV Maybe? With Mets to bone, peri, lymph?

Sorry to hear what you and your partner are going through. For what its worth -- My opinion is that you should keep pressing for proper diagnosis and treatment. If a biopsy has not been done then they do not know what treatment to use. Not sure what province you are in but I am in BC and my experien...

Re: Stg 4 para aortic and Iliac Lymph Nodes

Update: Pathology for the removed tissue and nodes showed more extensive spread than was shown on the PET scans. Cancer was still confined to lymph nodes but some para-aortic nodes were matted together and there were signs of extension beyond the node in the tissue. I had a follow up PET scan last w...
