Dealing with the grief

I wanted to thank all of you who sent me your prayers and kind words. You made me realize how connected we are through this horrible disease. My sister died two weeks ago today. I realize how fragile life is and how everything can change in a minute-like it did to us. Losing her was the hardest thin...

My sister has died

My beautiful sister passed away on 2/13 at age 46. She fought a long battle but the cancer won. The end was tough to watch but we were with her. I am so sad and in shock even though I knew it was going to happen. Nothing has ever hurt me more than this.

End Stage Pain And Symptom Management

I posted 3 weeks ago about my younger sisters 2 yr battle with colon cancer. She is in the end stages of this disease and symptoms are becoming hard to manage. She has a fentanyl patch, Oxycodone and morphine for break through pain. She can drink liquids but no solid foods because they cause pain an...

Re: WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE END STAGES

Thank you for all you advise. I so appreciate it. We are very close sisters and honestly can not bear the fact of losing her. I know I must be strong for her but she is all I think about. We have been to the best doctors and surgeons through the liver resection, two different chemo treatment - the w...

Re: WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE END STAGES

Thank you all for your responses. I will get those books. It is true the worst thing about this is not knowing. My sister is married and wants to stay home to die. Her husband is going to take some time off to care for her. My other sister and I have offered our support. My sister said we can call h...

Re: WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE END STAGES

Thank you for your insight. Yes I have the book and it is remarkable. I bought it way before my sister got sick. It is a lot of detailed information but I liked how he addresses the emotional side of this issue. He is a remarkable writer. I have also read some of Elisabeth Kubler Ross. That being sa...

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE END STAGES

My beautiful 45 yr old sister has fought for 2 yrs and now there is nothing else they can do. The doctors said a month or two. Hospice has started and we see the decline. I know everyone is different but I am trying to be prepared so I can be supportive. She sleeps a lot and is not hungry so there i...
