Re: Just told I have a mass in rectum

Hi, I'm so sorry you're here. I was told the exact same thing just days before Christmas 2015, a 5 - 6cm tumor that was most likely cancer. Hard to believe it was that long ago. After the initial shock (and like you, my doc knew and said it was cancer immediately, no biopsy needed before I could be ...

Re: Chemoradiation therapy: Can it Delay Surgery?

I don't know how to copy what folks wrote to respond to comment on but to CRGuy, I'm just saying 86 is a lot different than being in 40's or 50's. at 40, I absolutely would go through this to save my life but if I was 86 Im not sure that I would. I don't think I would just not do anything but I woul...

Re: Chemoradiation therapy: Can it Delay Surgery?

Hi ChicagoGeo, I'm sorry to hear about your dad :( . Having been through chemoradiation, surgery and chemotherapy, if it were my dad, at the age of 86 I would suggest he not do the radiation. It was awful and I'm a young 40 something. That being said, I would however, look into the new proton radiat...

Re: Newly diagnosed 28 female

Hi and welcome. Makes me so sad to see newly diagnosed and maybe a little more sad to hear it's a twenty something. I feel like I was too young at 41. I'm so sorry. Yes, you should talk to multiple doctors. I went to 3 major hospitals and met with doctors. Keep those appointments but for sure get re...

Re: Folfox and Ileo reversal

David,

So glad to hear you're doing well. You are a few months ahead of me. Re neuropathy, my onc said "good news, 80% of people find it completely goes away, bad news, it can take 18 - 24 months". I hope you continue to see improvement.

Re: Venting !!

I'm so sorry to hear your news. Having had two melanomas (in citu fortunately), precancerous cells on my cervix and now rectal cancer, I'm sort of waiting to see where it will hit next. I just had a pap smear (painful even with the baby tool) and fortunately that came back normal. I'm scared to go g...
