Re: Cetuximab

A family member has been dealing with rectal cancer since Spring 2022. Recently they had a recurrence of the liver tumor but on the other side with two small spots on one of the lungs. She has previously been on 5Fu, Oxaliplatin, and leucovorin with "good" results. She has had a rectal re...

Re: Lung nodules and genetic testing

. ...I just recently been diagnosed after my colonscopy.... I had a CT scan of my chest, pelvis and abdomen and on the CT scan they said they couldn't see any spread. ... It was never mentioned that it was on my original scan, maybe it was and the surgeon just didn't mention it? Also on my first sca...

Re: New Member - Looking for Some Reassurance

awolf007 - I tend to agree with the comments of roadrunner and Darkness_Embraced. It seems to me that a major surgery like left hemicolectomy will leave some residual problems, especially if your surgery had an open-surgery component. You said that your surgery was "partially robotic", bu...

Re: Interesting (and optimistic) danish study on recurrence for stage I-III colorectal cancer

Thanks for posting information on this study, and for the graphs. Very interesting! This suggests to me that there may be some changes in Standard of Care that have triggered new survival statistics.

Does anyone have information on changes in CRC standards of care over the past 10 to 20 years?

Survivorship Care Plan

... Anyway I am seeing the oncologist in a few days to clarify the next steps and also the surgeon for a follow up... When you meet with your doctors you can ask them to help you finalize a Survivorship Care Plan. If they don't already have a plan in place for you, you can print off a copy of the S...

Re: Perineural invasion

I went to Duke but I live in Southwest Virginia so my options are slim unfortunately. I see that you must live in a remote area away from a large cancer hospital. In that case, I think you could start off with something conservative like the Mediterranean diet that Pagola44 suggests: Pagola44's die...

Re: Perineural invasion

Could u point me toward a good diet to use If you want an expert opinion, I would suggest looking for a CSO dietitian in your area. CSO stands for "Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition". There are several CSO dietitians in your area. You could ask your doctor for a referral, a...

Re: Perineural invasion

Hello rdavis 12 , and welcome to the Forum. In my opinion, there is not too much for you to worry about as long as you seriously follow the three main principles of survivorship: Three Pillars of Survivorship I had Perineural Invasion in my pathology report 12 years ago, but I never had a recurrence...

Re: How obsessed are you all with diet?

...But my question is how obsessed are you guys with diet? Are you all very strict in what you eat? To answer your question, "yes" I am very obsessed with what I eat and drink, especially whether the food and beverage items are compatible with each other and compatible with whatever suppl...

Re: Neuropathy from FOLFOX?

I've noticed I've become a hot tea drinker since starting Folfox. Don't like the tingly feeling in the mouth when the drink is lukewarm, so I have switched to hot Green/Spearmint tea combos plus xylitol sweetener. Took a one quart thermos full of green tea to the last chemo session and guzzled almo...
