Re: FAP

My husbad was diagnosed with FAP in Feb. 2008 (Stage 3C). No family history.
Did genetic testing and concluded that it's considered as a genetic mutation.

If you have questions, feel free to ask...perhaps I might be able to answer as I now live and breath FAP 24/7.

Re: Zofran doesn't last very long

Asked Oncologist about Emend (not sure it's spelled correctly - maybe it's Emand).
Good luck!

Re: First Chemo - incl. Nausea and Cramping

The Oncologist just rang.
And I want to thank all of you for your suggestions.
I've asked him about Bentyl and also mentioned Emend/w/Desamethasone. And he has agreed to implement them.

So, hopefully the next round, it won't be like this!!!

First Chemo - incl. Nausea and Cramping

My husband just got his first chemo today.

So far, not so good.

He's experiencing cramping in his abdominal and in addition nausea...threw-up about 6x already.
Have already taken Zolfran (generic brand, not sure if that makes a difference).

Any suggestions? HELP!!!

Re: The unwelcome news after CT Scan

Susan, We're located around the Washington, DC area. So, he's getting all his treatments/surgery at the Georgetown University Hospital. The Onc. didn't mention anything about stopping chemo prior to the liver surgery, will have to ask him on our next visit. I think the Onc. wanted to start the chemo...

Re: Surgery - recovery issues

More questions...
My husband just had surgery 7 days ago. He just got put back on solid food in the last day or so...after he eats, he gets cramps like pain that last for about 60 to 90mins. Is that normal? and how long before he won't be feeling like that? Does any pain med help with that?

Re: Surgery - recovery issues

Thanks. What surprises me is that in a 36 hours period, non or the nurse think to check on his urine output. The bladder was completely full and that was what was causing the severe pain. The surgeon said in 2 days, they'll take the catheter out again to see if he can get his bladder back in control...

Surgery - recovery issues

My husband just had his surgery on May 29th to remove his entire colon and he now has a permanent ileostomy. I have question on how quickly one usually return to some sort of normalcy. May 29th - Right after surgery, he can only swap his mouth with water. May 30th - Same for day two, only swapping t...

Permanent Ileostomy

My husband went in for his scheduled surgery on May 29th.
The surgeon took out his entire colon as well as his rectum was removed.

I was handed a catalog and I have no idea where to start and what he'll need.

Anyone can give some guidance?

Thanks

Radiation caused lots of pain, so, he got pain med - Oxicodone/Oxicotend..whatever that right name is... His pain was more manageable after a week or two afte...

Well, well, well...who would have guessed. We took him to the ER on Monday. They did a bunch of test and urine test. At first they thought it could be UTI as there was white blood cells in the urine. But the test takes about 2 days to get result...so, they put him on med for that. Then on Tuesday, h...

He has not had his surgery yet. He's only gone through 5 1/2 weeks of chemo and radiation, which ended on April 11th. We met with the Genetist on April 17th, he should receive the result in 3 weeks. He is still having chills, cold sweats and unable to fall asleep (even though he's very very very tir...
