UP-DATE ON KATHRYN FINN-BLUME

Hi All, Haven't posted on here in quite awhile but I have an update to post for Kathryn. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks! Re: Anesthesia for colon resection

I agree...you definitely want to be "out for the count" for your resection. My first resection took approx. 4 hours and I couldn't imagine being awake for that long of a procedure. Good luck and congrats on the little one!

Re: Back on the Chemoland Rollercoaster again

When I had my 2nd resection last January, my gastro surgeon found CC on my bladder and called in a Urologist to work on it while I was still in surgery. A 4 hour surgery turned into a 9 hour surgery. I became a member of the teeny tiny bladder club. Anyway......because of the extent of my surg...

Re: Back on the Chemoland Rollercoaster again

Hi Bev! I guess we could call it "The Whack A Mole" game. I am doing Folfiri w/ Avastin. I've done this one before and I respond to it. Couldn't do Folfox again this time because I've still got neuropathy in my feet and a little bit left in my fingertips from last summers chemo adven...

Back on the Chemoland Rollercoaster again

Hi All! Been a while since I've been on here to post, even though I'd pop in to see how everyone was doing. I see a lot of new folks on here and happy to still see lots of "old timers" as well. :D Well......I'm playing the "whack a mole" game once again. I have had my 3rd recurre...

Re: How are we supposed to check for recurrence!?!?!

I was originally diagnosed a Stage 111C, but am now a Stage IV. CEA has never been an accurate marker for me. I have a CT Scan done every 3 months. Even when I was "cancer free" for 2 years, I still got a scan every 3 months. I am thankful for the diligence of my oncologist because without...

Re: CEA

Lisa, I agree with Bev. Good for you....living life and celebrating life's milestones. That is as it should be. I probably would have put off a scan (temporarily) myself. But now is the time to get that scan back on the schedule. I don't like getting scans but I get them every 3 months. Better safe ...

Haven't been on here for a good while and what awesome news do I read first? Congrats on this new opportunity! I think you will make an awesome teacher. Follow your heart and it will be the right decision for you. Hoping for unremarkable scans for you and your Dad.

Re: O/T to CC but worth sharing

I watched the interview on the national news earlier tonight. It was short and sweet at the end of the broadcast but it showed Nathan and his parents checking the mail and he is so excited at how many cards he is receiving. The neighbors have even decorated their homes outside and put up their xmas ...

O/T to CC but worth sharing

Hi Everybody, This is off topic from CC but this little fellow lives in my area and I thought maybe we could all send him a Christmas card. I know we did this last year for one of our own so lets spread a little joy to this young boy too. Sorry I don't have the news link highlighted, I find I'm not ...
