Re: FOLFOX lingering symptoms

My neurophthy continued to get worse for about three months after chemo. I've heard this refered to as "coasting." After that it has slowly been improving over the last two months and I optimistic that it will be a memory soon.

Re: Beansmama Checking in

Good to hear you're finally doing well on the cancer front. You are an inspiration.
Your husband threw away something good. He'll soon regret it.

Re: Opinions on HIPEC surgeons and what to expect post-surgery

I'm going in for my HIPEC on the 13th. My surgeon is Dr Wasif at the Phoenix campus of Mayo clinic. I'll let you know how it goes, probably around May 1st from what I hear.

Re: Amazon Smile

I have mine set up for the American Cancer Society. It is a .5% donation from every purchase.
I probably spend close to $2k a year on Amazon so that's a $10 bone to throw their way. Every bit helps.

Re: CEA is a stupid test

She knows many oncs that don't even do the test and if they do they hide within the blood work and never tell patients just to prevent unwanted anxiety. I even find myself anxious before a test and especially between the blood draw and when I see the onc. My New Years resolution will be to not fret...

Re: 5FU pump

I have the rectangular model with the countdown display. About once each minute it makes a noise like the autowind on a film camera. If I stick it under my pillow at night I can only hear it if my ear is directly over it. My only complaint is the nylon strap chafes against my skin. I solved that by ...

Re: Problems first time accessing PowerPort

Update Yesterday I returned for the second attempt at my first infusion. The port access and infusion went off without any problems. I discussed it with my oncology triage nurse and she ordered me the lidocaine cream to num the site, advised me to look away from all the action, and be sure to eat a...

Re: Problems first time accessing PowerPort

My husband on the first few occasions getting his port flushed would get lightheaded and sicker than a dog. Finally a nurse told us that some patients experience this and the cause is the meds that they use to flush with. She told us to have some hard candy to suck on when it's being flushed and to...

Perhaps an anti-anxiety would help? Make sure you get a ride home for afterwards.
Good luck!

I'm sure anxiety played a part and yes, I have a ride. I'll ask my onc about any drug recommendations.

Problems first time accessing PowerPort

This is my first time posting here, but I've found so much useful information just reading old posts. My question, has anyone else had problems the first time accessing their PowerPort? I had my PowerPort implanted this past Thursday and was scheduled for my first chemo infusion on Friday. I felt fi...
