Scar Tissue at Anastamosis Site - Surgical correction

Last week, I went in for my first sigmoidoscopy after my ULAR (I missed the first scheduled one due to not knowing I was supposed to prep). The surgeon shoved something VERY HARD in my rectum before doing the scope. I was literally clawing the bed in pain. He said that some scar tissue had developed...

Re: Very concerned 31/yo female

I had a change in bowl movements and had a colonoscopy when I was 27 (and living in the us). You really shouldn't be denied for it. Fingers crossed that it isn't anything too serious.

Ileostomy Complication and Reversal Wait...

So I'm 7 weeks out from surgery tomorrow and things have been terrible. My stoma is well situated on my stomach but poorly situated in the hole. The stoma opening is almost on the side (below the skin) and, currently, it outputs directly into my skin. This has meant that, to prevent continual leakin...

Post resection and feeling overwhelmed

I had my rectal resection on Tuesday. By all accounts it went well. I've been doing okay with everything until today and now I am totally overwhelmed by emotions. Any time someone asks how I am I burst into tears. Physically, I feel fine but, emotionally, I'm a blubbering mess. It's all just too muc...

Re: Lymph leak

Ugh.... sorry it hasn't stopped yet but I'm glad they're letting you come and go as you want. Hopefully the new hospital can get it under control. When will they transfer you?

Re: Death...I have wanted to ask this many times

I have been fortunate to not have experienced your same level of loss but I truly believe what you are experiencing is normal. Our brains are designed to protect us from this. Some pain is that too close or too recent to forget but others our brain can let go of. Think back to more positive pain - c...

Fragmin after resection?

So, I went to my rectal surgery class yesterday and was pretty surprised to be told I'd be given Fragmin injections for 28 days (done in the hospital and then done on my own once I get home). I've never noticed anyone mention those. Is it just such a 'not a big deal' that no one says it? Or is this ...

Re: Tubular Adenomas?

Can you make an appointment to see the doctor? It sounds like the nurse is just reading from the chart but I'm sure the doctor could provide more information on whether or not there is something to be concerned about and why they want to wait longer than a year for a follow up.
