Re: Family History

I appreciate any opinions. Then you've come to the right place as there is a lotta' knowledge and experience here ! JMO : With your family history I would consider pushing for more a more aggressive screening, maybe starting a c-scope earlier than even 40. Talk with your docs about other screenings...

Re: Fasting During Chemo

Interesting! Has anyone tried to do this with Xeloda, where you have to eat something with the pills? Glad you asked this question my friend !!! The short answer should be = " NO ! Do NOT try this at home  " The reason : Xeloda ( capecitabine ) is a pro-drug oral pill which is inge...

Re: Question for Canadians re genomic testing

We are in Ontario. MSS/MSI testing was done before we had asked about it - so maybe standard for stage 4? A few months ago he was approached asking if he wanted to participate in a study that would take some of his already resected tumor sample and do a bunch of testing on it to get more details ab...

Re: Question for Canadians re genomic testing

..... (and the health boards in Canada) It seems all the provincial health systems have created a bit of a mosaic across Canada. What you have access to, what they can access for you etc., depends as much upon how wired in your Onc team is and who they connect with and where they come from. Another...

Just a couple of generic comments here concerning "neuropathic" medications : ( which may include gabapentin, amantadine or pregabalin which are all kind of similar in action ..... BUTT different meds and not the same ! ) 1. PLEASE check with your own docs about these drugs in your own ind...

Re: Neo-Adjuvant Chemo Stage 1 Rectal Cancer?

I feel like I’d be ok with doing the Xeloda again since I know what to expect and tolerated it well but I’m really scared of getting a port. Has anyone else been faced with a similar decision? pCR is great ... BUTT if you have low rectal and ANY other risk factors / concerns etc. OR they actually s...

NO,
nobody here can confirm a medical diagnosis for you.
You need to check this out with a doctor in real life, to see what is going on.

Best wishes

Re: Question for Canadians re genomic testing

No personal experience with my own "tissues" so far ...... BUTT we do have Canucks who have had it. BCCA is using an Oncotype lab for some breast cancer patients ... the POG program is an option if your Onc is willing to investigate and patients need it .... ? there are private testing lab...
