Re: "Kaplan-Meier Karate" - understanding survival data

Respectfully : Kaplan-Meier is a non-parametric stat discussion referable only within its OWN frame of reference. This discussion has LESS than nothing to do with karate ( please read my bio. ) The quotes about "grasshopper" would refer to Kung Fu the old TV series based on Shaolin Kung Fu...

Re: SO FRUSTRATED! - I hate these 'mega' medical groups

My own scheduling mixups were just the opposite of yours Jaynee. Even after I was out of the yearly plan, the Oncs kept sending referrals for my follow up scope yearly when the Surgeon who did them, said 3 years or 5 years depending upon polyps and timing from resection / chemo. I kept telling each ...

O/T kind of for... Colorectal CANUCKS !

I would be totally remiss, not a true Canuck ... and certainly NOT CRguy ..... IF I did not acknowledge the recent tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team bus crash, in my home province. I don't ever recall seeing such an outpouring of loving kindness, support and grief for a trage...

Re: TATME

Radiation is the gift that keeps on giving ! BUTT ...... just fyi ! it allows lower doses of chemo to be used concurrently it can be used to downsize tumours pre-surgery it "sterilizes" the surgical field wrt cellular infiltrates, and currently ... it can produce a cCR result which for som...

Re: TATME

I had pCR confirmed by pathology on the resected tissue after surgery, NOT cCR based on clinical assessment or imaging before surgery.

Standard of care for rectal / low rectosigmoid (2007) involved neoadjuvant chemoradiation, resection, adjuvant chemo ... which is what I had.

Re: TATME

No help here : I had an open Total Mesorectal Excision via low anterior resection. taTME ( transanal TME ) has been studied as an alternative / comparative to the more traditional laTME ( laparoscopic TME ) and is a more technically demanding combination procedure ... AFAIK. one quick reference is h...

Re: Enlarged Thymus?

..... but my thymus is enlarged. She said that she has seen this before in patients that have had pelvic radiation, because their blood counts don't rebound as quickly. My blood counts have been consistently low since my last chemo. We decided that to be on the safe side, I should go for a PET scan...

Re: non-specific inflammation...what could it be?

Yes be proactive .... be VERY proactive all the time !!!!!!! Welcome to the forum ASA ( even 81 mg daily ) can cause issues with other NSAIDs ( ibuprofen = Motrin / Advil ) at the levels hubby is taking them, SO whoever has him on both should have had a discussion with him about that.
