Taking Supplement Correctly Presentation (better link)

For those without the Instagram app, here is a link that will take you to the actual presentation. I just watched it and thought it was a really good start to a new series. A fair amount is targeted to oncology issues. If it shows sideways on your end, no worries - just listen, there's not much to s...

Re: chronic inflammation

I'm so happy it helped! For what it's worth ... I've found the Healthy Minds meditation app to be awesome. It was developed by the Healthy Minds Innovations program, which was founded by world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson. I've been meditating regularly (but not always consistently) ...

Are you taking your supplements correctly?

Maybe it's just me but I get confused about which supplements need to be taken on an empty stomach vs. with fat, etc. I came across this Instagram live broadcast next Monday, April 15th. The presentation is being given by two licensed naturopathic doctors, one of whom (Dr. Coats) is board-certified ...

Re: chronic inflammation

Just thinking with my fingers ... you likely know all this already. If the vagus nerve is the cause, both meditation and yoga will work to stimulate the vagus nerve. As a bonus, yoga therapy has also been shown in studies to be as effective as pharmaceuticals at treating PTSD. I have a family member...

Re: Overworried ?

In my experience, radiation is a piece of cake. I had SBRT, a kind of pinpoint radiation, and I assume it will be the same for your mother. Mine was 5 sessions. It took longer to change clothes and get everything prepped and started each time than it did for the treatment. No pain, no burns, no anyt...

Re: CEA questions

It's probably not a mistake but it could be something unrelated. Cancer can metastasize anywhere in your body but there are also a number of benign conditions that can cause elevated CEA. For example, inflammation anywhere in your body can cause CEA to jump quite dramatically.

Meditation (PSA and recommendation)

I'm posting this PSA because I really wish I'd known about this much sooner. I've been through a lot of meditation apps over the past 10+ years, including paid subscriptions of most, and a fair amount of coaching/instruction, including private coaching and a week-long meditation retreat. In my exper...

Re: Lung met

I've had lung mets surgically removed three times. The first two were in Germany because met locations/number made it impossible in the U.S., but the third surgery was here. I've also had multiple rounds of Folfox, Folfiri, plain 5FU, and Xeloda before, after, and between those surgeries, plus a 5-s...

Re: Overworried ?

For now, in the absence of more information, I suspect you're thinking too much. While a rise in CEA is always on our radar, trends over time are more important than a single test because CEA is influenced by so many things, not just cancer.

Re: Is this legit

I didn't watch the whole video but I'm familiar with Dr. Seyfried's work, and I have a lot of respect for him. It's essentially keto for cancer, which is controversial for the long term. I'm no medical expert but as I understand it, one issue is that depriving the cancer of glucose might initially w...

Re: How obsessed are you all with diet?

Berries are not the same as supplements. Big difference. Until you see a legitimate study saying that eating berries interferes with chemo, don't worry about it. One of the most common pieces of nutritional advice I've received - from several oncologists and dietitians - is to eat 1 cup of berries (...

Re: How obsessed are you all with diet?

I'm not an expert but I think I've worked with it all over almost 8 years as a Stage 4 patient, and have worked with a few oncology dietitians. I was vegan when I was diagnosed and I've been all over the board since then. There are differing theories with impressive experts on all sides. One group s...

Re: Stable disease

My last scan showed that an adrenal lesion was dying, which was ... just... WOW. That being said, I've been doing this for a long time, and "stable" is cause for celebration IMHO. Sorry, you did say picked up on scan, what type of scam was it? PET scan. Here's what the report noted: Known...
