Re: Friends, i am struggling, news of cancer are awful

You might want to consult with some well known HIPEC surgeons to get advice on next steps. I know that both Sugarbaker and Sardi will review files remotely to see if they might be able to help you. I've had two HIPEC surgeries and am doing very well. There's always hope!

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

I never had scanxiety until recently. I had a CT scan last week. My oncologist called me yesterday to tell me that my thymus is enlarged and she wants me to go for a PET scan. I'm nervous as hell about the PET scan. You might have thymic rebound which can occur after chemo...it can light up on PET,...

Re: Enlarged Lymph Nodes on 6 Month CT

I had some prominent lymph nodes around my surgical sites for about 8 months following my HIPEC surgery. They were reactive, not cancerous.

Re: MSS and Nivolumab (Opdivo)

No I haven’t but I’m in Canada and not sure that my province would cover that? But I am meeting with my first hipec surgeon on Jan 8 for him to reconsider his position of no second hipec that he made after my hipec recurrence with lymph nodes. Hi Steph, Have you ever consulted with Dr. Sugarbaker? ...

Re: MSS and Nivolumab (Opdivo)

Hi Steph,

Have you ever consulted with Dr. Sugarbaker? I know he did a second HIPEC operation on someone with lymph node involvement. I just had a second HIPEC with him although I had no lymph node involvement. It might be worth a shot to contact him. He is very responsive!

Re: Peri mets, Stage IV --- Need advice

AJ, If you're willing to travel for surgery, I would highly recommend calling Dr. Paul Sugarbaker's office (Google Sugarbaker Oncology) in DC. He will review your scans/records from afar and if he thinks you're a candidate, you will fly out for a consultation and then surgery. He's a pioneer in perf...

Re: Pain near belly button -- umbilical hernia?

It could very well be a hernia, but I also had a small tumor in my abdominal wall present with a feeling like a pulled muscle about an inch near my belly button. If you are worried, an ultrasound is a good tool to see what's going on.

Re: Omentum seeding or Drop metastasis

Hi Robin, I agree with Lee that it's often necessary to interview surgeons rather than oncs when it comes to HIPEC. If you're located in Pennsylvania, I would recommend talking to Dr. Bartlett. He is an experienced HIPEC surgeon and it appears he offers free phone consultations which is wonderful. h...
