Re: Tenesmus Pain

I’m not sure what treatment your husband has had or is currently going through but here’s a thread I posted when I was at the height of my issues. I don’t think too many people experience this and so I really did not get a lot of answers. http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&...

Re: Tenesmus Pain

I had this, along with rectal bleeding from the need to push. It was very compelling and uncomfortable. Sometimes in the bathroom doing little or nothing except pushing 25 times in an hour or two. As I mentioned before, with no help or diagnosis from the doctors, I took a combination of Imodium and ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Done in about 30 minutes this morning. I also got a good night's sleep. So about four good days in a row. It's actually pretty amazing when you're so used to waking up three to four times in the middle of the night. I am still undecided about the Miralax. I was originally planning to use it just to...

Re: Help with bowels

... Also when you do this are you taking the miralax, napolina and the immodium all at the same time or the napolina and immodium at the same time?? Yes, I take all three in the morning- around 8 or 9 Am. I use the powder (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01880VNIQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_t...

Re: Help with bowels

Two people posted that they use a combination of Miralax, Nopalina and Imodium. Imodium slows things down while the other two speed things up. I can't take Imodium because I also have a small bowel obstruction. The percentage of people that get the GI problems is small as is the percentage that get...

Re: Help with bowels

Thank you, I'll maybe have him try a suppository. It just seems that he is going such small amounts and its no where near enough for what he is eating and it's causing him a lot of stomach upset and nausea when this happens. What about fiber capsules have you experienced with those at all? I had a ...

Re: Help with bowels

I also wanted to ask if that constant "urge" to need to go ever gets better? That’s tenesmus, and yes, it does but slowly and prob not nearly as soon as he’d like it to! It’s a gradual improvement. The article linked above suggests there’s a medication called Bentyl that helps. Wish I’d k...

Re: Help with bowels

That’s an excellent article linked above. I wish I’d had access to that information when I was struggling with tenesmus and clustering the first year after surgery, since the docs weren’t familiar with the issues and thus not able to help much. Many of us forged our own solutions over time based on ...

Re: Those of you in Japan - PSK Mushrooms

I took 5 capsules of 500 mg each of Mushroom Science's "Turkey Tail Coriolus Super Strength 500mg" from Dec 2015 to Sept 2016 - actually during my active chemotherapy. I did end all supplements about the time I ended chemotherapy. At the time I leaned heavily upon the Life Extension websit...

Re: I don't have much longer.

Got back from a surgery last week. Took a bit of time to recover. Results came in - not looking good. My kids are young (son and daughter just started grade seven) and my wife is scared to death, but who could blame her? Hoping to spend as much time as possible with my family. The doctor says aroun...

I also used Mushroom Science to purchase PSK and used it as a adjuvant treatment.

I was at UTSW too. Here’s a cut and paste of my supplements... I was able to get through the full chemotherapy regime with no reductions in doseage. ... I used Alpha lipoic acid and glutamine from a day or two before infusion to a few days after - prob 5-6 days each cycle. I usually took 15 grams of...

Re: Extrusions vs Nuggets

That's great. Oatmeal has both soluble and insoluble fiber. I think fiber is the key. While I believe the senna leaves in nopalina are helpful for ME, I have a tendency towards constipation(nuggets). If that's not an issue, fiber alone is prob helpful no matter what the source is. I was amazed at th...

.... I'm liking Bob's recommendation, in another post, for dark chocolate. Even if it doesn't help in my case I won't turn down an excuse for some chocolate.. the darker the better... Re: Extrusions vs Nuggets

It's an easy morning routine. I mix the Nopalina and Miralax together with water or juice, and take an Imodium with it. Over time, I've dialed back the quantities as much as I can for personal effectiveness. I used to use the 2 tablespoons of Nopalina as suggested on the package, but for us rectum-l...
