Re: Colon Cancer Stage 3 May2019 new member

I remember a couple times during chemo that my hand would freeze in a gripping position and I would have to uncurl my fingers with the other hand. This didn’t happen super regularly but several times throughout chemo. I had no lasting effects though, except maybe a slight decrease in very fine motor...

Re: Possible Lymph Node Metastases Continued

Hello, I have had distant lymph node metastasis. I had one node lighting up the CT after surgery. (Sorry it wasn’t named to me - retroperitoneal area near a blood vessel) I was told the same thing, either inflamed due to surgery or it was cancerous and the chemo would shrink it. I did the 6 months o...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

He arrived at 14 based on the tally that shows his pre-surgery and post-surgery values. His hemoglobin was 14.8 before surgery. The normal range, as provided by the MSK lab, is 12.5 - 16.2 g/dL. My husband is a very large man. Medical providers have informed him for someone his size, it should be a...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

[quote="mpbser"]My husband and I are not comfortable with him restarting chemo until we get a clear picture of what is going on inside him My husband has set a threshold of at least 14 for what he wants to see his hemoglobin to be before moving forward: [quote=“mpbser”] I am sorry that you...

Re: My hair is falling out.

I started losing large amounts of hair after cycle 2 of both folfox and folfiri. I would say I lost 70% of it over about a a month. Every time I would touch it or wash it massive amounts would come out and it was sore. So I shaved it off. This helped immensely with the soreness. I was totally fine w...

Re: very discouraged with this cancer business

I have been attending an exercise class for cancer patients and survivors. It has been so awesome! There is no pressure to keep up with super athletes and we can all relate and encourage each other. Our instructor (a survivor herself) modifies the exercises for any of us that have limitations. Not ...

Partial bowel obstruction

I am wondering how long it takes for a body to deal with a partial bowel obstruction. This hit me a week ago but I didn’t realize what it was until Thursday. I ate a very limited diet from beginning until Thursday and have been liquid since. Just hoping to get some personal experiences when this mig...

Re: Floating Stool - bowel question

Not sure on this but I have heard that stool floats when it has more fat in it. Maybe your colectomy keeps you from breaking down all the fat? I know when I have a higher fat meal (Caesar salad and garlic bread or a thick, rich soup) I get stomach cramping for a while afterwards. It seems like my bo...

Hello, could those who have been on keytruda or mono immunotherapies of the like please chime in with your experiences based on the following?: colon cancer was diagnosed about 4 years ago, surgery to remove the mass and total colectomy was performed followed by 6 months of folfox and was NED for l...

Re: Scared I have colon cancer at 17

My cat scan came back normal and I saw the specialist and I’ve been put on miralax twice a day and a healthy diet, I still have doubts and anxieties but over all I guess I’m not freaking out as much because my cat was apparently normal Thanks for the follow up. Try to relax the anxieties but contin...

Re: Mother (70) diagnosed, surgery scheduled

Hi all, My mother had anemia symptoms for most of 2018 although it was only diagnosed in December. It wasn't too severe and she was/is pretty healthy and active. They did a colonoscopy and found a few polyps that were removed, including one that was bleeding. They also found a flat lesion that the ...

Re: Keytruda

Sooooo, keytruda. Not FDA approved for colon cancer, therefore insurance will not cover it (Medicare/TRICARE), didn’t see that here anywhere. Merk is covering the drug, my Onc office is comping the treatment itself (insurance won’t pay for that either). A few more things than just needing keytruda ...

Hello, Fellow Canadian here. :) I feel for you in this situation. I am a bit of a researcher myself and have been advocating for things that I feel are important. However, I also have a very concerned sister who is sometimes pushing me to do things I am not comfortable with. She came to visit while ...

Re: Starting immunotherapy next week

Hi friends, I’m going for my first immunotherapy infusion on Monday. It’s the next step in my battle with metastatic colon cancer. Three months ago, I had surgery for a single metastasis in the right lobe of my liver. Got scanned a few weeks ago and there is a new met in the left lobe. I could go f...
