Re: General question about CT scan

My colon tumour was also detected by CT during an ER visit. I never did see the report but the dr told me a “mass” was detected in my colon. I already had a scope scheduled. I was in the ER for severe stomach cramping and pain. Upon resection 3 weeks later it was approximately 5 cm large. Not sure i...

Re: Internal Iliac Node involvement??

I had distant node involvement though at the time of surgery they weren’t sure if it was cancer or just reaction. I would definitely check to see if there is a chance at removing during surgery. Mine did not respond to chemo and they were too large by the time they were responded to for radiation. (...

Re: IMMUNOTHERAPY

So in response to your question about the tumour testing and the worry about possible other cancers. From my reading the onco company is testing your tumour chunk for mutations. So the mutations they find are in your cancer cells not necessarily your whole body. For example, my tumour tested MSI-h w...

Re: 2 swollen nodes in abdomen...

Jep, I am sorry to hear about this discovery. I am hoping it's not abdominal lymph nodes. However, if they are, I want to give you some info because I have experience with it. Mine have only been detected by PET scans - never big enough by CT criteria to be seen. So, I've had PETs every 2-3 months ...

Re: MSI-H with liver met, in search of help

I am MSI-h, (MLH1 and PMS2) not Lynch. I did full 12 rounds of folfox and had a recurrence within 5 months. Multiple Mets to lymph nodes all over abdomen, chest and neck. We watched a lymph node in my neck grow 3 cm while doing 2 rounds of folfiri. Then I started Keytruda and within 3 months all my ...

Re: Homemade salad dressing recipes

Omg I love tacos haha, mmm... Thanks stewsbetty, I’ll add this one to the list! Powdered ranch is harder for me to find for some reason, i know I’ve seen it at Costco but who needs that much ranch powder!? I guess maybe in the grocery store it’s kept with the dry packets of gravies and hollandaise s...

Re: Disconnect

My mom (and I) were trained in the disconnect. I never actually did it all myself but walked my mom through the steps. I was concerned about not seeing the port area well and looking in a mirror and doing things is more challenging for me. However, I wish I had taken responsibility for it because it...

Re: Genetic Testing?

My tumour was tested for gene mutations originally. Because we discovered I was MSI high I was recommended for testing for genetic mutations through my whole body. Since I have children I was anxious to know this. It was a longer wait here in Canada but it was reassuring to know that I have no genet...

Re: New Stage IV Diagnosis

Hello, Another Canuck here. :) I’m from BC. I know what you mean about difficulties with second opinions as I am in a rural area and there are limited surgeons and oncologists here. I do think that genetic testing is very important but the folfiri plus bevacizumab doesn’t have any contraindications ...

Re: A cautionary tale

i am sorry that this gentleman has passed on. I have a close friend (not a friend of a friend :) who has multiple myeloma - cancer of the blood. She has been working with her oncologist and a cancer specific naturopath since shortly after dx. She had a stem cell transplant and is on continuous chemo...

Re: Is it odd? (DH chemo pump)

My first cycle was a breeze. Other than a little cold sensitivity and first bite once I sailed through it. Second cycle not so much. Make sure he still stays on top of his meds cause if nausea or excessive diarrhea starts things can go downhill quickly. I ended up hospitalized for 5 days second cycl...

Re: Does anyone have a little drinky drink during chemo?

BTW, has anyone else encountered major problems getting a simple glass of WARM water in a restaurant? I've been out a few times shortly after infusion, and I have to explain at length that yes, I really do just want some lukewarm water from the tap. One place insisted on running it through the coff...
