Re: Homemade salad dressing recipes

Omg I love tacos haha, mmm... Thanks stewsbetty, I’ll add this one to the list! Powdered ranch is harder for me to find for some reason, i know I’ve seen it at Costco but who needs that much ranch powder!? I guess maybe in the grocery store it’s kept with the dry packets of gravies and hollandaise s...

Re: Homemade salad dressing recipes

I really like this recipe. I use it in tacos as well as salads. :)
3 tomatillos
juice of 1 lime
1/2 c buttermilk
1/2 c mayo
1/3 c sour cream
1 pkg dry ranch dressing
1 bunch cilantro
1 bunch green onions
2 cloves garlic
3 tsp sugar
Dash tabasco sauce

Put all in a blender until creamy

Re: Disconnect

My mom (and I) were trained in the disconnect. I never actually did it all myself but walked my mom through the steps. I was concerned about not seeing the port area well and looking in a mirror and doing things is more challenging for me. However, I wish I had taken responsibility for it because it...

Re: Genetic Testing?

My tumour was tested for gene mutations originally. Because we discovered I was MSI high I was recommended for testing for genetic mutations through my whole body. Since I have children I was anxious to know this. It was a longer wait here in Canada but it was reassuring to know that I have no genet...

Re: New Stage IV Diagnosis

Hello, Another Canuck here. :) I’m from BC. I know what you mean about difficulties with second opinions as I am in a rural area and there are limited surgeons and oncologists here. I do think that genetic testing is very important but the folfiri plus bevacizumab doesn’t have any contraindications ...

Re: A cautionary tale

i am sorry that this gentleman has passed on. I have a close friend (not a friend of a friend :) who has multiple myeloma - cancer of the blood. She has been working with her oncologist and a cancer specific naturopath since shortly after dx. She had a stem cell transplant and is on continuous chemo...

Re: Is it odd? (DH chemo pump)

My first cycle was a breeze. Other than a little cold sensitivity and first bite once I sailed through it. Second cycle not so much. Make sure he still stays on top of his meds cause if nausea or excessive diarrhea starts things can go downhill quickly. I ended up hospitalized for 5 days second cycl...

Re: Does anyone have a little drinky drink during chemo?

BTW, has anyone else encountered major problems getting a simple glass of WARM water in a restaurant? I've been out a few times shortly after infusion, and I have to explain at length that yes, I really do just want some lukewarm water from the tap. One place insisted on running it through the coff...

Re: Nervous: Where is My Period?

Hello CA girl, I was dx’d at 42 and had normal periods all through surgery and folfox. However, with my recurrence I did 2 cycles of folfiri and that totally whacked my cycle. After those I didn’t have a period for 3 months and now that it has come back it is erratic. Sometimes 35 day cycle other ti...

Re: Hello from a new member

Just a word of advice about the anti nausea meds. They don’t work as well if you wait until you are already feeling poorly. My chemo journey is over, thankfully, but I ended up in hospital 2x when things got out of control. When steady nausea or diarrhea kicks in you dehydrate very quickly and if yo...

Haven’t heard anything yet. I think we are often a year or two after the US. Guess it has been a year now for Keytruda.

Re: No, we don't have the best healthcare system

You get used to the system you know. :). I am a Canadian living in BC - though my data wouldn’t have been included in this study since my journey didn’t start til 2016. Pretty sure after reading the reticle they were comparing apples to apples. Actual cost of treatments, not billed amounts. Anyway, ...

Ok, just went back and looked at your dog. I guess because she is stage 3. If she is unable to continue chemo I would ask the doc about doing Keytruda or Opdivo.

Re: Adverse reaction to capecitabine?

My mom finished her first round of Xelox regime last Wednesday. On the last three or so days of the pills she really had a hard time eating or drinking anything. Then on Sunday she was having abdominal pains that were severe enough for the on-call oncologist to tell her to go to urgent care. Urgent...
