Re: Just diagnosed

I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed last month with stage 4A colon cancer (spread to liver). I had a colonoscopy only 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with stage IIIB Hodgkins at age 13 in 1971. It is likely that the treatment I had in those early days, especially radiation, has led to this cancer....

Re: New DX, Realistic Expectations

I had 6 rounds of Folfox before my surgery. I would go in on Tuesday and be in infusion room for a few hours so I just took that day off. I would work from home while I had the pump. My side effects were very mild. I was so worried before I started so it was a pleasant surprise. Most people were sho...

Natalie - I am so sorry to hear that your mom has passed on. Your post bring tears to my eyes because it was so beautiful that your mom had you and her family by her side. In the end isn't that what we all hope for? I have no doubt that your mom is in a wonderful place filled with love and will be w...

Re: Advice/Insight Please - Wife Just Diagnosed

Hmmm not sure about Dr. Kemeny as I never saw him. I wonder why he would want to wait. Hopefully your wife can have the liver resection or ablation. It sounds like you are gathering some good info which is half the battle. I just had round 11 of my chemo and looking forward to finishing round 12 and...

Re: Ileostomy Reversal Log - One Week at a time

Thank you Geoff!!! Your post makes me hopeful. I am meeting with surgeon the end of this month and will get my reversal on the books most likely towards the end of April. I have been worried because of all the issues I read about. My hope is I will be more like you. I have only had about 10 inches o...

Re: Newly diagnosed 28 female

I've been pretty lost and in a daze. I had a colonoscopy done three weeks ago. The dr. Found a large tumor at my junction? Where the rectum and colon meet. He said its big that he was surprised I was able to make a bowel movement. That following Tuesday I had a apt to review my biopsy results and t...

Re: Waiting for my results. Scared, in disbelief, but hopefu

I have cancer. I have a 'moderately differentiated colonic adenocarcinoma extending to the margin'. The CT Scan shows that it does not appear to have spread. ⋅ No lymphadenopathy ⋅ Probable wall thickening at the rectosigmoid junction but it is hard to define a definitive coloni...

Re: New member needs advice !

There are no nerves in the colon so I don't think the staples would cause any pain. I remember watching on the tv screen my surgeon tattoo my colon before surgery and was amazed I could feel nothing. I had surgery in Dec and mine ended up being open because my tumor was in a tough spot to get out. I...
