Re: Reversal Thread

Hey basil, Wishing you the best of luck Monday and your good luck continues. I'm really courious on how you make out with your reversal. I guessing you will be way better off than us who have been threw radiation. And the short time with the ileostomy has to be a plus. I was so excited for my revers...

Re: Just told I have a mass in rectum

Hi Kathy, I'm really sorry you are going to have to go threw this. It is not a death sentence and hopefully it will just be a little bump in life for you. Not knowing what stage you are or treatment your are going to receive is one of the hardest part of this journey. One of the most important thing...

Re: Two Years Ago and a Thank You

Wow Judy, I could only wish I had your writing talent. You nailed it with this post. I have read threw it twice and each time I got tears in my eyes. People don't talk about the emotional Side of cancer, I believe it's harder than the actual treatment it's self. There were so many times I just wante...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

I will throw in my 2 cents worth. Keep your food boring and bland. Stick with easy to digest food like mashed pototoes, oat meal, toast, plain pasta ya get the Idea? Introduce new foods one at a time so you know what to avoid. I think the longer you keep your food boring and bland the faster your col...

Re: 9 more days!

Glad she is doing well with minimal side affects. The last week is the hardest. The last three radiation zaps they will adjust the machine and just hit the tumor hard. Six weeks to eight weeks seems like the average time between all phases of this treatment. Your such a great daughter and I'm sure y...

Re: Reversal Log: Experience,Problems, Q & A's

All the organs of the body were having a meeting, trying to decide who was in charge. The brain said: "I should be in charge, because I run all the body's systems, so without me nothing would happen." "I should be in charge," said the heart, "because I pump the blood and cir...

Re: To port or not for Oxi

Ask about Picc line.
It a plastic tube that runs up your arm and stops just above your heart. No surgery involved to install or remove.
The only down side is that it can't get wet and dressing needs changed once a week.

Re: Any luck with Neoadjuvant chemo/radiation therapy Stage 3 Rectal Cancer?

My initial staging was 3c with two enlarged lymph nodes. My tumor was 6 cm. Chemo/radiation shrunk it about 40%. My final staging was stage 2 with no lymph nodes involved. The last week of radiation can be a little tough fatigue and a sore butt. The good new is that it don't last long. Took me about...

Re: Will my BM's ever return to normal?

WIll my BMs ever return to normal? Now that's the million dollar question. I'm 15 months out from ileostomy reversal and ask myself that question all the time. I'm sorta a feared to try new foods still. I stayed on a row residue diet for about six months after surgery and introduce new foods slowly ...
