Re: The importance of choosing the right surgeon

Guess I'll put my 2 cents in as well. I did not have time to find out what kind of surgeon would be operating on me. I had my scope and was sent directly to the surgeons office and had the surgery the 2nd day after that. Happens that my surgeon, who I think is absolutely wonderful, is a board certif...

Re: Caught my mom smoking!!!

Okay, like Terry I will admit I'm also a smoker. I know how bad it is for me, nobody had to tell any smoker that. I have quit and started over and over again. After my diagnosis I tried to quit sooo hard, but I am also a stress smoker. The day I got off the phone with my surgeon when he told me I wa...

Re: A neuropathy rant

Helen, go ahead and rant anytime you need. I can definitely relate. My neuropathy is so bad, I was just forced to resign my position at work and I loved my job. I don't blame them, it was a County job with the Police Dept. Out of the last 19 months, between surgery, radiation, chemo and now this.......

Re: Husband diagnosed today...a few questions

I too am sorry you had to find us. But, you will find a wealth of information here. I had between 10 to 12 inches of my colon removed. It was an open surgery not laparoscopic. I was told I would be in the hospital minimum of 7 days. I was out on day 4. They told me I was a fast healer. I saw the onc...

Re: Bradyr to have surgery

Brady and Sharon, You will both be in my prayers, as I continue to always pray for you :) I pray that the Lord guide everyone in the operating room. From the surgeon, to the anestheiologist, to the nurses, that everything go well with the whole operation. I pray that the Lord give you and Sharon His...

Re: bradyr new brain mets

Brady, I am so sorry about the bad news. You and Sharon really sound at peace about what you are going to do or not do, and that is great. All of us should respect your decisions. You have always "been there" for so many people on this board. Whether you are giving advise, which was always...

Re: ANYONE HAVE POST-CHEMO NEUROPATHY THIS BAD?

Candyys03, Thank you for your reply also. Along with the oxycontin, I am already taking 1800mg/day of the gabapentin. Also on calcium, magnesium and a new vitamin I can't remember right now, something to regenerate the antioxidents. It is now 6 months since I finished chemo and didn't think I would ...

Re: ANYONE HAVE POST-CHEMO NEUROPATHY THIS BAD?

Thank you for your reply. As far as my dates, I stopped the Oxy the middle of June, 2008, so it's been almost 6 months. The 5FU I stopped July 9, 2008. I have read a little about the rebuilder. As far as I can tell, it is a "tens unit." My husband has one from back issues he had, so I gave...

ANYONE HAVE POST-CHEMO NEUROPATHY THIS BAD?

I'm looking for other options on what to do about my neuropathy. During chemo the tingling in hands and feet went away between treatments. Then it didn't go away between treatments and my onc waited another week to see if it went away, and it didn't. It was then that my onc stopped the Oxy, I finish...

Re: My First IV Chemo and how it went.....

Hey Guys and Gals, we haven't been here in forever! I know my biggest excuse has been my neuropathy in my hands (and feet, up my ankles and part of my calfs). I have had so much problems with my hands that I didn't even turn my computer on. I had gone back to work on Sept 2nd but am back out on disa...

Re: How low can your red blood count go?

My count was as low as .09. If I tried to do anything that consisted of standing or walking for more than 5 to 10 minutes, I would get all shaky, weak and break out in a sweat. There were times that things started to "go black." I sat down immediately and it would pass.....before I passed ...
