Re: Swedish Medical Report: Traditional Cancer Drugs of Little to No Value - August 2023

They found that only seven of the 22 drugs had at least one study which showed a clear benefit for cancer patients. Randomized controlled trials on the other 15 failed to show any measurable benefits for those with cancer. Can somebody explain how these drugs could have been approved? AFAIK, positi...

My GI told me that the best US hospitals are much better than the best Canadian hospitals. I understand that Sunnybro...

Re: Were you worried about losing your job at diagnosis?

Back there I had long term disability insurance. It would have been about 50% of my salary. It's not a lot but would have been sufficient for a more modest life style. My son just finished medical school and before starting residence travelled with his friends to Japan during my surgery. I was confi...

Re: Lung Nodules - any advice welcome

So most recent CT scan showed growth in (1) lung nodule (right lung lower lobe). Most recent measurement shows that nodule has grown to 6mm x 7mm. I am beyond a little frustrated. At one oncology appt. the nodule will be stable. Then at next oncology appt. 3 months later, the CT will show that nodu...

Re: Diet & survival - where are we at?

When my father had a challenge regaining weight after his stomach surgery and lost his appetite he asked his surgeon about vodka as an appetizer. Surgeon's answer was "Of cause, whatever you like to make sure you have an adequate weight." My son's (he as MD) advice also was - whatever you ...

Yeap.
As soon as I saw "10 month wait", I realized that you were a fellow Canadian.
Do you have an option of paying out of your pocket in your province or in the US?

Re: Non cancer issues on scan
