Re: Moving

I live in CT and know how expensive it is to live here though we do have access to outstanding medical care. My brother lives in Nashville and loves it. He has found great medical care at Vanderbilt and found the cost of living to be much lower than in the Northeast. My sisters have also moved to a ...

Re: Afraid to eat

I am happy to say that our trip went well. I was incredibly careful as to what and when I ate but I had no major incidents during the few days we were away and I had a wonderful time with my family. Thank you again for the advice given.

Re: Afraid to eat

Your responses are amazing. They are so thoughtful and are appreciated. I only use Imodium when I absolutely have to because my body seems to over react to it. After taking Imodium I can go as many as 8 days without a bowel movement. This causes a whole other issue. Of course it would solve the vaca...

Afraid to eat

I am afraid to eat. It seems that eating often results in incredibly loose stools. Eating marshmallows (as suggested on this board) helped for a bit but i am having these episodes that are sometimes difficult to handle. I am afraid to eat unless I and staying home. Now we are planning a few days awa...

Re: I don't know what to do

I am tossing in my 2 cents - I saw the recommendations on this board about having a colon specialist do the surgery. My GI doctor recommended a general surgeon who I had work on me before for another issue. I met with her and asked about how often she did colon resections and I liked her answer. She...

Re: Any advice

I am glad that you are seeing your surgeon to talk about the pain you are experiencing. I can tell you that the fatigue you are experiencing is normal. You mentioned you are 2 weeks out from the resection and plan to return to work next week. That is so soon. I worked just a couple of days at 4 week...

I am on a mission

I don't understand it! I recently ran into two people I know on separate occasions. They both asked me about my recent health issues and how I was diagnosed. I told them it was through a routine colonoscopy. They both said they have never had one. When I encouraged them to see a doctor one said she ...

Re: Hemorrhoids Anyone?

Thank you all for your suggestions. Thankfully they are too bothersome most of the time. I just hope they will shrink back down soon.

Hemorrhoids Anyone?

I am 8 weeks post-op after a right hemicolectomy. I have been doing quite well with the exception of a uti at 3 weeks post-op and different bowel habits. After an initial episode of constipation, I had been having very loose stools. I started eating marshmallows things seemed to be better. The other...

Thank you for marshmallows

I don't remember who wrote it as a reply to a post I read but someone suggested eating marshmallows to help with loose bowel movements. It sounded a bit crazy but I was desperate so I tried it. It is working. I am seven weeks post-op today and have been able to return to my part-time consulting work...

Re: How is your average day?

My lesion was found during a routine colonoscopy. I had a colon resection (right Hemicolectomy) 5 weeks ago and the biopsies were great indicating no further treatment. I am getting used to my shorter colon and still dealing with tremendous fatigue. I have been pacing myself with many rest periods w...

Re: So Confused

I am sorry you are going through this with the added issue of conflicting news from different doctors. I may have done things a little differently than most but I will share it. My GI doctor did two colonoscopies first before sending me on to a surgeon. The surgeon he recommended was a general surge...
