Re: Goodbye

As the one with cancer, I often felt that being the caregiver / loved one forced to watch would be *so* much harder. I'm so very sorry to read both posts, but so moved by the love and devotion that you gave to your partners. Keeping you both in my prayers. Tracy No.. not harder!! but the feeling of...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Carlotta, thank you for kind wishes. You wrote: “ oncologist said that in Britain they just 'don't do' HAI and that answer was echoed when I asked the main cancer charity here. They say the treatment doesn't have enough evidence to support it being used, according to the UK medical establishment - o...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hi Carlotta, Welcome! Another wife here, I’m in France. I believe that you have found the best place to be when this has happened in your life (I have looked around and for me this is THE best place for kind support and good info that I have found!!!) This thread was such an important read for me, I...

Re: Good Scan Results at 4 months!

After surgery they told me that my tumor "did not express CEA," so it would not work as a marker for me. That is what I meant by negative for CEA. I gather that this is the case for some percentage of people, perhaps around 30% or so for CRC. I think that the test is a cell staining. BTW,...

Re: Good Scan Results at 4 months!

Something odd: my CEA was 3 when I had surgery, but they said the tumor didn't express it so it is useless as a marker. This time I happened to get a printout of my full bloodwork results, and noticed that my CEA was 6. I don't know exactly what to make of it, since the cell-death theory of why che...

Re: Howdy

Thank you! Today was a good day. No new growth and it appears things are stable for now. My CEA went up a touch to 12, but I'm not overly concerned about it. Onward with more erbitux and 5fu. “ Stable and no new growth ” sounds like good words. :) I have read that CEA can go up due to tumors die be...

Re: Salami

I'd be willing to bet it was the decades of a sedentary lifestyle full of cigars, morbid obesity of close to 400 pounds, primarily denatured foods, e.g. red and processed meat, sugar, and no DNA-correcting foods (those with chlorophyll) at all, alcohol, and stress. I hear you mpbser! Sendentary lif...
